On 16th – 18th of September 2014, VIII edition of conference cycle “Drying and thermal treatment of sewage sludge” took place, organized by Abrys Company. Aim of the meeting is discussing important for ecology subjects, related to the sewage sludge utilization, which are growing year after year. Currently, most of those is transported and simply stored, which will be prohibited since the beginning of 2016, on base of Union directives, which came into force.

Since 3-days conference, FU-WI company presented their project named “Demonstration Installation of thermal utilization of sewage sludge by pyrolisys”, which were accompanied by a lively discussion about advantages of the technology, but also the growing popularity of thermal methods. According to the current state of knowledge, this is the very safest form of sewage sludge management and is becoming increasingly important in our country. Participation of methods relying on drying and later combustion, in recent years has increased to over 35%, and their development is still continuing – installation delivered by FU-WI Company may be the evidence for that.

How you could find out, global sewage sludge problem which we have to face with, has been solved with great success in couple of country regions and big polish cities, by building and launching numerous dryers and incinerators. Still there remains large majority of the country – small towns and rural areas, which prevail in Poland. FU-WI Company meets those regions problems, proposing the installation, which would successfully replace the expensive, metropolitan installations based on fluid boilers. Proposed solution of thermal processing line is closing with pyrolisys reactor, in which an appropriately prepared sludge by number of devices, is subjected to a turbo duo-pyrolisys. The process not only reduces the volume of the sludge. With 2-stage combustion, and later shock-cooling, all of the dioxins, furans and flavors are dissolved, and in result, we can receive small granulates, which can be additionally used, f. ex. as aggregate under the road building.

“Demonstration Installation of thermal utilization of sewage sludge by pyrolisys” meets with great interest, but also appreciation of authorities in the field of environmental protection. As it turned out during the meeting – line raises a lot of emotions, and proposed by FU-WI technology fits perfectly into the current needs of pro-ecological solutions. Right now, the line passes last tests in the newly built hall before the first presentation.
